Packing tips
Packing doesn't have to be a hassle. With these tips you pack faster, lighter and without forgetting anything.
Start your list in time
Make your packing list a few days before you leave, not the night before. That leaves time to buy or borrow anything that's missing. Check items off as they go into your bag, so you see exactly what's still missing.
Look at the weather and your plans
Bring what you actually need: check the forecast and think about what you're going to do. A raincoat and a warm jumper are almost always a good idea, even at summer destinations where the evenings can be cool.
Pick clothes you can combine
Choose clothes in a few colours that go together. Fewer pieces then make more outfits. For a longer trip, it's often easier to do a wash on the way than to bring something for every day.
Roll your clothes
Rolled clothes take up less space and crease less than folded ones. Pouches or packing cubes keep your bag organised: one for underwear and socks, one for shirts, and so on.
Heavy things at the bottom
In a suitcase, put heavy things like shoes near the wheels. In a backpack, keep them close to your back so it carries better.
Important things in your carry-on
Passport, medication, chargers, keys and anything valuable belong in your carry-on, not in the suitcase you check in. If you fly, mind the rules for liquids.
Share the list with your travel companions
Travelling together? Share the link to your packing list, so everyone sees what's already packed. That way you won't bring three tubes of toothpaste, and nobody forgets the tent.
